DETAILS

Join Jonathan Goldman, president of the James Joyce Society and internationally recognized Joyce scholar, and Scott Shepherd, ERS ensemble member and co-director of ERS’s Ulysses, in what will be part reading group, part class. Over the course of three months, Jonathan and Scott will walk participants through reading the novel (yes, the whole thing!) with particular emphasis on passages included in ERS’s staging. Reading group members will also have the opportunity to observe part of a Ulysses technical rehearsal at The Public theater. All are welcome -- whether you’re completely new to the novel, an avid re-reader, or an ERS fan wanting unique insight into the company’s process of adaptation. The reading group will take place over nine sessions over Zoom: Nov 17, 24; Dec 1, 8, 15, 22; Jan 5, 12, 26 Mondays 12PM-1:30PM EST Space is very limited and the group will be capped at 30 participants. There are a few scholarships available if cost is a barrier. Please email info@elevator.org for more information.
